Monday Mems #2: Fire

In the wake of the 2017 Tubbs fire, Sonoma County has had to reconcile with the harsh reality of devastating and unforgiving wildfires. Most folks, including us at RB Construction, have become accustomed to fire season and all that comes with it. However, you can never really be prepared for the devastation of a fire. On a calm Sunday afternoon in July of 2018, Rigo received a call from his wife that his in laws' house had been almost completely consumed by a fire. Even though everyone in Sonoma County has experience with fires at this point, the news came with a shock and delirium that can only be felt. This was a home that held the memories of entire generations. It felt like a sanctum more than a home. This is where family would gather to party, argue, cry, laugh, and, at times, live. This was Grandma Flora's home which meant that it was an extension of everyone else's homes. So when the fire consumed the house, it felt as though our own home had been destroyed. And in accordance with the cliche, this time of hardship allowed our family to come together and begin the rebuilding process. This was a process that took some months and a lot of hard work. Most importantly, though, rebuilding this home was a family project. At RB Construction and Remodel, family is at the core of everything we do. Whether we are rebuilding an in-law's home or meeting a client for the first time, we always aim to make you feel like you are part of our family.
