Monday Mems #8: WHM RB Construction’s Very Own

Today’s Tribute to Women's History Month is also the last of the month. We thought, who better to honor for our final women's history post than our very own, Teresa Gudino. Born in Cotija, Michoacan in 1977, Teresa is the second youngest sibling of 10; three sisters and six brothers. When she was 8 years old, her mother, Flora, and father, Jose, decided they would leave their ranch and move their family to the United States. They settled in Sonoma County, CA where Teresa and her family would work in the vineyards picking grapes. In addition to working in the vineyard, Teresa was a full time student and participated in other extracurriculars. She attended Cook Middle School and would eventually graduate from Montgomery High School. Teresa had always aspired to continue her education post-graduation, but one event made her question the plausibility of her dreams. Shortly before graduating highschool, Teresa became pregnant with her first of 4 children.  She was only 16 but she did not let that get in the way of her dreams. Teresa decided she would continue her studies at the SRJC while working a full time job. After 2 years at the JC, she transferred to UC Berkeley where she would earn a degree in Chicano Studies. During her time at Berkeley, she was exposed to schools of thought that previously did not exist in her world. These schools of thought and constant exposure to novel ideas ignited her ambitions as a mother, a businesswoman, and professional. While her field of study was not directly related to construction or business administration, she has since become one of the most valuable assets to our RB Construction and Remodel family and her family at home. Attempting to assign her a title in our company would be an indefatigable task. Aside from being the wife of our owner, Rigo Barragan, she consistently morphs into the roles of project manager, chief operating officer, HR, PR, front office, financial analyst, and many others. She has done everything from create estimates/proposals for jobs and communicate directly with clients to lead marketing campaigns and manage advertising jobs. It is without a doubt that, without her, our company would not be where it is today.
